About Josefita Bar

If you’re exploring Madrid’s Centro and want a spot that feels local, relaxed, and full of character, let me introduce you to Josefita Bar, a place that quietly pulls you in and makes you want to stay a while. Located at C. de Valverde, 42, right in the heart of the neighborhood, Josefita Bar has that classic Madrid restaurant energy where conversations flow easily and the atmosphere feels welcoming from the first step inside. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can drop by for a quick bite or settle in for a longer visit without feeling rushed. The vibe is casual but confident, mixing everyday comfort with a lively social pulse that suits solo visitors, couples, and small groups equally well. Food and drinks play an easy supporting role to the experience, with small plates that are perfect for sharing and quick bites that work just as well when you’re short on time. The menu leans into variety, offering healthy options alongside more indulgent choices, so everyone finds something that fits their mood. Drinks are a big part of the charm here too, with beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits all flowing naturally throughout the day, while coffee is always an option if you’re easing into the evening or just passing through. Service options are flexible, which adds to the appeal, since you can enjoy Josefita Bar through dine-in, takeaway, or delivery depending on how your day unfolds. That flexibility pairs nicely with the drink selection, whether you’re grabbing a glass of wine, meeting friends over cocktails, or picking up something simple to enjoy elsewhere. What really stands out, though, is how effortlessly the place blends into the rhythm of Madrid life, feeling neither touristy nor exclusive. It comes across as a genuine neighborhood restaurant that welcomes newcomers without losing its local soul, making every visit feel spontaneous, familiar, and refreshingly uncomplicated.

We had a wonderful experience at Josefita! The service was excellent and attentive, and the food quality was truly impressive. The menu offers a great variety, but portion sizes can vary quite a bit—so it’s worth asking in advance. We ended up with more than enough for two, but every bite was worth it. The Josefito was a standout—flavorful, perfectly balanced, and prepared with impeccable ingredients. Both the meat and the chiles were top quality and cooked to perfection. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy a meal at your own pace. It does get busy, so I’d recommend reserving ahead or arriving early when they open.

We have ordered, croquettes / crunchy bread with anchovies / josefita brioche. Everything we ate was really delicious ! The brioche was a reason to be best seller :)

We had a great experience in this local bar with excellent food and friendly service from the staff. Very clean and nicely decorated with spacious interior and great atmosphere. The menu has lots of great options and the tastes were some of the best tapas we have tried in Malasaña. Highly recommended for an authentic experience with good value.

Our waitress was great. Her English was much better than our broken Spanish. We also had a great meal here.
